Good morning ladies,
Billy Graham in his book, “Hope for each day”, wrote on Matthew 6:20. "Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven."
He tells a story of an old man, a great man of God, who lay on his death bed. He called his grandson to come to his side. He called the boys name, and said, "I don't know what type of work God will give me in heaven, but if it's allowed, I'm going to ask The Lord Jesus to help me build your mansion. You be sure and send up plenty of the right materials."
Mr. Graham reminds us that living a life of purity and love, leading others to Christ as we share our faith, doing good works in Christ's name--all of these are materials that can be sent ahead. They can not be touched by thieves, natural disaster or fluctuating economy. Then he challenges: what kind of building materials are you sending up to heaven?
Are we encouraging our children to send up good building materials? Moms, be sure to read the Bible to your children every day. Pray with them and let them see you have a real relationship with The Lord, that you are delighting to do His will in your lives. Let them see and hear you telling others about the Lord, so that they will realize that letting our friends know about Jesus is very important. Let's strive to set a good example to our children, grandchildren and others by sending up quality building materials by modeling how to do this.
