Recently I was reading an article on the behavior, beliefs and actions that lead to a successful, spiritually mature life. One of the most notable marks of spiritual maturity was the ability to love....the article read:
"Love is giving. Love flows from having received love and value from the Lord. Spiritually mature people are givers. They are motivated to help others succeed, even more than they want to benefit themselves."
Do we love from the heart and desire the object, the person we love to succeed? I ask this of myself concerning my husband. Do I desire that he succeed? Do I desire to serve him so that he does....at the expense of myself?
Is this the desire of my heart and if it isn't what is in the way? Sin? Unforgiveness in my heart? Hurt? Anger?
Do I realize that I am loved of the Lord and that His love can flow from me? Since I am unconditionally loved and valued by the One who created me, I can love others unconditionally. That I can forgive and be healed of my hurt?
Today may we walk in the knowledge that we are loved and valued by our creator and let this knowledge flow from us in the form of love to others...especially to our husbands.
"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command." John 15:13-14 We have been loved by the greatest of love...
"Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another, not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord..." Rom. 12:10-11
A challenge for me today....
